WASHINGTON (Feb. 24, 2026) – Ahead of President Trump’s State of the Union address on February 24, American Chemistry Council (ACC) President and CEO Chris Jahn released the following statement:
“U.S. chemical manufacturers are foundational to nearly every sector President Trump has prioritized — from energy dominance and advanced manufacturing to AI, semiconductors, infrastructure, healthcare, and defense. When American chemistry grows, America competes and America wins. The President’s America First economic agenda has helped catalyze trillions of dollars in new investment across domestic manufacturing, technology, and infrastructure. Our message to the Administration is simple: We stand ready to turn your America First agenda into operating plants, breakthrough technologies, and modernized infrastructure – all of which requires the power of chemistry.”
“Making more chemistry in America helps make America more affordable. Manufacturing essential materials here at home lowers costs across the economy — from energy and housing to consumer goods and technology — helping keep everyday prices in check. To fully realize this opportunity, we need policies that unlock domestic production: a modern, science-based TSCA program that is timely and predictable; permitting reform that accelerates critical projects, especially those that enable abundant and accessible energy; competitive and reliable rail service; and trade policies that reward U.S. production and address unfair foreign practices. These are practical steps that will drive investment, create jobs, and ensure the United States remains the best place in the world to manufacture.
“President Trump has been a tireless champion for American manufacturing and American workers. The business of chemistry is ready to do its part. Our industry supports millions of jobs, fuels innovation, and provides the essential building blocks for a stronger, more secure, and more affordable America. We look forward to working together to turn the America First vision into continued growth, renewed competitiveness, and lasting prosperity for the American people. Because America’s competitiveness and America’s success, all depend on American chemistry.
“As President Trump prepares to outline his vision for the nation, ACC and our member companies stand ready to partner with the President, his Administration, and Congress to advance an America First agenda that strengthens our economy, enhances our national security, enables a safer and healthier country through chemistry, and delivers a more affordable future for American families.”
