Keeping all Americans healthy – especially children – is something everyone supports. At the heart of every breakthrough in public health is chemistry. From protecting our food supply and reducing food waste to product affordability, chemistry helps make our modern way of life and systems possible.
A key ingredient to a healthy America, and a more resilient nation, is chemistry. As the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) Commission report points out,
“It is critical to recognize that chemicals are important tools that are inextricably linked to economic growth and innovations - helping to feed, shelter, and power every American and maintain food safety standards.”
America’s chemical manufacturers help protect our food supply by detecting contaminants, creating packaging innovations to maintain freshness, and developing products for disease prevention, and more.
Governments at all levels and industry should work together to create a healthier America based on gold standard science while protecting domestic innovation. Chemistry is part of the solution along with coordination across all federal agencies.
Policymakers should prioritize regulatory policies that support the U.S. chemical industry, not ones that result in offshoring U.S. manufacturing that make it harder to support a healthier, more affordable America.
